| Going in some offshoot news about Full Tilt Poker, I thought I'd mention an interesting tidbit about Phil Ivey, who I've never really heard much about until recently. One of my good poker buddies who was playing at the Bellagio asked hold em poker hands the dealer at the table hold em poker hands (this was a somewhat high stakes game) who the dealer thought were the best players that frequented the poker room. The dealer, without any hesitation, said Phil Ivey - and only hold em poker hands Phil Ivey. It wasn't even close. I really would have expected Barry Greenstein or another major player like Doyle Brunson or Daniel Negreanu. In any event, there's a good reason I don't even try to participate in events like the World Series of Poker, because a good poker player knows when he is outclassed. Playing in the WSOP is like wading through the kiddie pool to be met by a tidal wave at the end. |
